Labor Lifetime Achievement Award

James Vogts
Legislative Representative, Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association

James Vogts has been fighting for police officers’ rights for over 35 years, having been involved in just about every fight for the rights and benefits we all enjoy today.

He has been able to achieve this role having served as the President of the California State Marshals Association, L.A. County Marshals Association and the Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association.

In addition, he has served as an elected member of the Board of Directors for the L.A. County Marshals Association, the State Marshals Association, the Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, the California Coalition of Law Enforcement Associations, the Southern California Association of Law Enforcement Agencies and the L.A. County Coalition of Unions.

His career was cut short with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department when he suffered a heart attack in October 1996. But he was back serving law enforcement shortly after as a full-time lobbyist.
