Top Supervisor Award

Mario Marchman
Sergeant, Glendale Police Department

Sergeant Mario Marchman began his career with the Glendale Police Department in 1977. From early on, Sergeant Marchman exhibited a natural knack for taking charge of any given situation and following it through to a successful and safe conclusion. Sergeant Marchman excelled in each of his numerous assignments as an officer and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1990.

Sergeant Marchman has supervised several details, including the Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Special Enforcement Detail, Vice Narcotics and Gangs. To cover all of his accomplishments as a supervisor would take pages and pages.

During his stint as a Sergeant, Marchman has earned the reputation as the “go-to guy” for tactical operations. Last year, Sergeant Marchman was assigned to the Glendale Police Department’s Training Bureau. Aside from assuring that officers were receiving proper training, he acted as the department’s Range Master, arranging shoot schedules and instructing officers at the range. He was also instrumental in forming and developing the department’s SWAT team and has remained as the lead supervisor. Mario’s in-depth knowledge and experience as a trainer and supervisor has proved invaluable to not only the department, but his fellow officers as well.

While Sergeant Marchman’s abilities are well-respected and trusted by management, he holds an equal amount of respect and trust by his peers. Aside from the responsibilities that the police department has bestowed upon him, Sergeant Marchman has also been the President of the Glendale Police Officers Association for the past several years. As the Association president, Sergeant Marchman has used his tactical knowledge in the negotiations arena. Under Sergeant Marchman’s leadership, members of the Glendale Police Department have been able to obtain the pay and benefits to place them at the top of the scale.

Sergeant Mario Marchman’s peers wanted the opportunity to thank him for everything he has done to improve their quality of life as police officers and in helping to assure that they safely make it to their end of watch after each shift.

It is with great pride that the Golden Badge Foundation presents Sergeant Mario Marchman with this year’s Top Supervisor Award.
